Estranged or Disowned?

Father and DaughterFather and son

Websters definitions:

Estranged: to arouse especially mutual enmity or indifference in where there had formerly been love, affection, or friendliness : alienate

Disowned: 1: to refuse to acknowledge as one’s own

2: to repudiate any connection or identification with

Independent: 1: not dependent: as a (1) : not subject to control by others : self-governing. b (1) : not requiring or relying on something else : not contingent (2) : not looking to others for one’s opinions or for guidance in conduct. c (1) : not requiring or relying on others (as for care or livelihood) d : showing a desire for freedom

I am trying to determine as to which would be worse; estranged or disowned. Presently, it is feeling more like estranged, although there is no enmity. There has not been any formal “act” of disowned. But, the feeling is there, I guess.

Both children have either said to a third party or stated to me indirectly, that they no longer want anything to do with me. A bold statement at such young ages.

……………more to come on this post!
